  20. Well I try to visit the IRC everyday, there is definatly a use there, and a 
  21. wide variety of knowledge. Steve Worley hangs out there often and offers 
  22. help to those who need it.
  23. The largest problem with the irc is the amount of people coming in the 
  24. channel wanting pirate copies of LW, it's usually a real pain. however if a 
  25. question is asked it typically gets answered if it can be. The irc is 
  26. probably the most informal LW group on the net, it is just people hanging 
  27. out when rendering is taking too long and such just to say hello and chat. 
  28. topics can vary and it's not always LW. I don't talk just LW with my friends 
  29. so yes it's not a structured and topical thing like a mailing list or 
  30. newsgroup, but then again I don't have to read Lee's gripe with Newtek over 
  31. and over which in itself is refreshing.

  53. I wouldn't worry -- half an hour (tops) on irc would bring you up to
  54. speed. Whether you'd want to is another matter; most of it has the
  55. feel of a boy's school playground. It's a hard way to get info,
  56. but sometimes all there is...
